What to expect from compound grating
Span still governs depth
The added top layer does not replace bearing bar strength. Bar depth, support spacing, and edge banding still have to be sized for the clear span and traffic load.
Open area controlled
Compound panels can balance airflow, drainage, light, and debris control. That makes them useful over equipment rooms, maintenance platforms, or pits where a fully solid plate would trap material.
Edges sealed together
Layered grating needs banding or welded edges that keep the mesh and bars from separating. Loose top mesh becomes a trip point and is harder to clean.
