For Contractors
Metal Fab That Shows Up On Spec, On Time, and Ready to Install
You're juggling a dozen trades, an unforgiving schedule, and a drawing set that everyone is supposed to be building from. The Grate Guys are the metal fabricator that reads the drawing, builds to it, and gets it on site when your sequence needs it, so the steel isn't the thing holding up your trades. We fabricate to spec in Toronto, ship across Canada, and install across the GTA. 5.0 on Google, licensed, insured, and WSIB-covered.
How we keep your schedule
Late metal stalls everything downstream, the concrete crew can't pour over an open trench, the floor can't close until the grating drops in, and inspections wait on the railing. We work backwards from your critical path, not ours. Tell us the date the fab needs to be in your hands and we build the shop schedule to hit it.
- We confirm the in-hands date up front and flag any conflict before you commit it to your sequence.
- One point of contact who actually knows your job, no chasing a service desk for a status.
- Honest lead times. If a date is tight, we say so before the PO, not the week it's due.
- Progress you can verify, so you can update your three-week look-ahead with real information.
Shop drawings and engineer / architect coordination
Most rework starts as a drawing problem, not a shop problem. We produce clear, dimensioned shop drawings off your architectural and structural set, and we put them in front of you, your engineer, and your architect for sign-off before any steel is cut. When the EOR has a comment on a connection, or the architect wants a different picket spacing on the metal railings and handrails, we'd rather catch it on paper than in the field.
We're comfortable working inside a submittal and RFI process, reading addenda, holding to the finish schedule, and matching the detailing the design team specified. For structural steel fabrication we coordinate connection design and embeds so what we deliver lines up with what's already in the ground and what the other trades are framing to.
Fabricated to the drawing, so there's no rework
When fab doesn't match the drawing, the cost lands on you: a return trip, a delayed inspection, a trade standing around. Our whole approach is built to make the first piece the right piece. We fabricate to the approved drawing, hold tolerances that matter for fit, and check the work before it leaves the shop.
- Field-verified dimensions on retrofit and tie-in work, so a custom metal grate drops into the existing frame instead of getting ground to fit on site.
- Bar grating and trench, catch-basin, and tree grates cut and banded to your openings, not a stock size you have to make work.
- Finishes, fastening, and frame details built to match the spec, so the architect signs off the first time.
- Bollards, gates, stairs, and architectural metalwork detailed to the drawing and to how the assembly actually goes together in the field.
Lead times, delivery, and on-site fit
Fabrication is only half the job, getting it to site clean and making it fit is the other half. We give you a real lead time at quote, deliver to the GTA on a schedule that matches your sequence, and ship across Canada when the project is out of town. Across the GTA we also install, which means the fit is our problem to solve, not yours.
If something on site isn't plumb, square, or where the drawing said it would be, and on a live job, something usually isn't, having the people who built the steel also setting it means adjustments happen on the spot instead of becoming a back-and-forth. From a single custom metal fabrication run to a full package of grating, railings, and structural steel, you get one crew accountable for both the fab and the fit.
Why GCs keep coming back
The contractors who use us once tend to put us on the next job, and the reason is simple: we make the metal scope one less thing you have to manage. You get a single accountable supplier for fabrication and GTA install, drawings your design team can approve, parts that fit, and a lead time you can actually plan against.
- One supplier owning fab and install, fewer seams in your scope, fewer people pointing at each other.
- Licensed, insured, and WSIB-covered, so the paperwork clears your site requirements without a scramble.
- A 5.0 Google rating built on jobs that came in matching the drawing and the date.
- A fabricator who speaks your language, drawings, RFIs, submittals, sequencing, and inspection, not just metal.
Put the metal scope in steady hands
Send us your drawings and your in-hands date. We'll come back with a real lead time, clean shop drawings for your team to approve, and a price you can carry. Then we build it to spec and get it on site when your schedule needs it.
