What to expect from heavy duty trench covers
Bearing edges reinforced
Trench covers need strong ledges or frames along both sides. If the edge crushes, the cover will drop or rock even when the plate is thick.
Plate deflection controlled
Thick plate, ribs, bar grating, or framed sections are chosen to limit bounce and deflection. Long unsupported covers need reinforcement under the surface.
Access sections planned
Drainage and utility trenches still need cleaning or inspection. Covers can be split, hinged, or marked so crews do not need equipment to open every section.
