What to expect from tree grates
Heel-Safe ADA Slots
Slot widths are held under half an inch so a cane tip or a narrow heel can't drop in, meeting accessible-route requirements across the whole panel. The pattern still reads as an open grille that lets water and air reach the soil.
Sits Flush In Its Frame
Each grate drops into a matching angle-iron paving frame cast into the surround, so the top finishes dead level with the adjacent sidewalk or plaza pavers. No raised lip means no trip hazard and a clean line where the paving meets the metal.
Cast Iron Or Steel
We pour heavy ductile cast iron for high-traffic downtown installs and fabricate steel where a custom pattern or lighter panel suits the site. Both are rated for pedestrian loading and detailed so the open area still breathes air down to the roots.

Tree Grates is custom-fabricated or coordinated for trenches, pits, mezzanines, walkways, drains, equipment rooms, parkades, and industrial floors, where fit, access, durability, and site conditions matter more than a stock product. The Grate Guys builds tree grates around drawings, measurements, traffic duty, finish exposure, and installation constraints using galvanized steel, powder-coat, stainless details, or heavier plate selected around corrosion and traffic exposure, made to order in our Toronto shop, licensed, insured, and WSIB-covered, with a workmanship warranty on every order, supplied and installed across the GTA and shipped Canada-wide.
